I bought this product to transper my parents slides to digital so we can look at them easier. How many people have a broken slide projector at home? Slides were the "in" thing back in the 60's and 70's so everyone has a bunch in the basement. The cheapest price to send the slides out that I found was .19 cents each so that was not an option when you have about 2000 plus. This is so easy to use that I could not believe it. It came with software and you can hook the scanner directly up to the computer but you can just use a SD card and then pop it in the computer when your done. The scanner has adjustments but I left it on the default settings and it worked great. The view screen is pretty small but it lets you see what your doing. It takes longer to put the slides in the holder than to scan it (about 5 seconds to scan each slide). I did about 420 slides in about 2 hours one day so it goes pretty quick. The quality of the scan is only as good as the slide itself but it still is better than having the slides in a box in the basement and nobody looks at them. If you want the quickest and cheapest way to get slides to digital this is your machine. The scanner also works well on film negatives. You just have to change the setting on the scanner and your in business. 33 of 33 people found the following review helpful. Great Scans, Miserable Slide Tray By RLR I bought this scanner based on the favorable reviews on Amazon. I've been using it for three days now, and I find the scans to be super-quick and of good quality, BUT, the three-station slide tray is torture. That's the only reason I knocked my rating down from five stars to three. There are two problems with the tray. First, the moulded recesses for the slides are too small, making loading slides a chore and requiring much more attention than is should. Secondly, the tray is tricky to open - I'm always afraid that I'll crack the plastic when I go to remove the slides. 39 of 42 people found the following review helpful. GOOD SCANNER By John E. Hetsch I BOUGHT THIS ITEM NOT EXPECTING EXCELLENT RESULTS, BUT WAS I EVER WRONG. RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX, IT WAS EASY TO USE. THE INSTRUCTIONS LEFT A LITTLE TO BE DESIRED, BUT WITH A FEW USES, IT WAS VERY EASY TO OPERATE. IT IS PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD. I HAVE HAD THIS SCANNER NOW FOR A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AND SO FAR, I HAVE SCANNED BETWEEN ONE THOUSAND AND FIFTEEN HUNDRED SLIDES, ALL WITH WONDERFUL RESULTS. THE COLOR IS EXACTLY AS ON THE ORIGINAL KODACHROME SLIDE. THREE OR FOUR YEARS AGO, I BOUGHT A CANON SCANNER ON WHICH I SCANNED OVER FOUR THOUSAND COLOR SLIDES, BUT IT IS BIG AND BULKY AND MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER. IT COST CONSIDERABLY MORE THAN THIS LITTLE SCANNER, BUT GAVE NO BETTER RESULTS. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS SCANNER TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PRESERVE PICTURES. See all 22 customer reviews...
