The mount is very picky. The actual scan takes only a second or two, my steady stream were on average 20 seconds per photo, mainly due to loading and unloading of the bracket. Yet it is easy to watch TV. No file system or computer tinkering is necessary when scanning. The SD card is later dumped on a computer in one easy step, so that's good. The scans themselves are OK quality. The old photos are really killer resolution and color, and you lose it. But the photos of the 70s you want to view and share your computer will do this well. 44 of 46 people found the following review helpful. Do what it should. R. Vaise-Ottosen This review is Slide 2 SD version. The speed and the ability to transfer different from other versions of the Ion slide scanner. Advantages: quick, easy, ultra-portable Disadvantages: Glass should be cleaned frequently to prevent dust particles from one part of the scanned image. This unit is ideal for storage or restoration, your old family photos, memories. The scanning itself is fast, unless you count the time it takes you to download the slides for the course (four at once). Which is faster, but also after you have rhythm. My job was to scan 430 slides and over 500 other images into negatives and rolls. All along, I had nearly 1,000 images, digital switch. What I thought would be an endless pain turned out to be the exact opposite. It only took about two days of my time with a couple of hours a day. Just think of it as a fun weekend project. The images are 2400x1600 pixels. Picture quality is as good as the slide or negative will allow. Please note that the slides and negatives deteriorate over time, particularly when under extreme temperatures or humidity can be stored, or in too much light. You can not expect a slide of 30 years or 40 years to be the same as a digital picture taken today, no matter what your scanner additional processing can be done, because the scanned images are downloaded to the computer. The device is very easy to use. Load the tray with the desired media (slides comic, negative or roles) in the slot, the OK button twice, push the tray to the next image, etc. Images stored on 1 GB SD card comes with the scanner. You can use the card into the computer to copy the images on your hard disk. The scanner has no other treatment options than flipping or rotating the image. The only complaint I have so far is that the glass where the image is easily projected debris that ruin your photos if not regularly cleaned. The glass is where the image is scanned, so that it accumulates dust, they are a part of your photo. It's actually observe how the landscape through a dirty window, so you can clean the glass, which does not want to keep it simple. The only access you have to do is where you insert the slide / negative tray. It is wide enough for a Q-tip to do the work, provided that not let the Q-tip behind son of clean cotton cloth. Other than that, the scanner is really what I expected to do. He slips out of my family of 70 and 80 and the negative of 90, in digital photos. 57 of 62 customers found this review helpful. Piece of junk by Slawomir M. Popiel The bottom line is that one might expect from the original film scans to copy a better quality than scans difficult. Unfortunately, when it comes to this scanner, it's the opposite. Therefore, it is not doe buy a lot of sense. Supposedly there is a scan of 5 MB. It should give you many dpi (approx. 3600?). Unfortunately, the scans produced by this device is much smaller than the resolution of the screen a waste of time and money. See all 29 customer reviews ....
