Most Helpful Customer Reviews 191 of 195 people found the following review helpful. A great little scanner Stoney Summary With some limitations, it is a great little scanner. The best part is that it actually fits in my Targus computer case with my laptop. It weighs only 2-3 PDS, and drive USB power --- no converter brick to lug around. Scans are very sharp and fast. The automatic settings work very well for almost all typical originals (old photos, letters, invoices, etc.). Despite some shortcomings, for the price and portability of this extraordinary series of scanners for scanning the choice to make, because books --- books to be scanned is often borrowed from libraries or archives. DEFECTS Unfortunately, the special design of the scanner (and all other LED-based scanner), which (unlike most fat desktop scanners) can not scan 3D objects. Every part of your document or image is not in absolute contact with the glass Patten very blurry. The increased border increases the edges of an original that does not fit on the glass Patten, making the edges of the scans blurred, this is especially a problem when scanning books. Also you can just press harder --- that warps the glass causing blurriness elsewhere on the page, and may also become lodged in the scanning mechanism. However, these problems can be solved using the strategies discussed below. The cover is not removable, which means your out-of-turn if you need to become part of a large object to scan. The program is diverse, confusing and difficult to configure optimally. Warning, I have at least three brands of scanning software, none of which are well designed. Of alien named "MP Navigator" I suggest to check "Use the scanner driver" to access the "Advanced Settings" - or better yet, scan your images (image editing) software. But even if the document is a problem, is smaller (1 / 16 ") and narrow (3 / 8") than most other scanners, etc, etc are scanning books is a minor problem with most scanners. Selection of hardware models and "Advanced Settings" part of the exploration program LiDE all models (at least in models from 90 to 210) appear to be identical. The main differences between models are: 1) improvements in auto-scan, and 2) the rated speed of exploration (which is apparently controlled by software). Despite the statistics above, there is little practical difference between the models of the scanning speed. The "slow down" models are quieter, and I suspect it is more reliable. Since I only use the "Advanced Settings" (never automatic configuration), is 110 my preference, no matter the price. Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Scanner (4507B002) The 210 is better for children and others who will never learn to use the "Advanced Settings" option, because it claims to have automated scan of the top 210 can be a little faster when scanning small originals and / or low resolution. Canon CanoScan LiDE210 Color Scanner (4508B002) If you want to scan books and if you do not want the scanner around too much, you might consider a Canon LiDE 700. It has two major advantages. The right bank is in effect, the glass surface (hurrah! !)--- although there are still large margin. The lid opens 180 degrees so you can scan parts of a large object - although there is a "border problem" for the other three corners. Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F Color Image Scanner (3297B002) scan books is easy to scan books that are at least ½ "margin between the impression and the spine. Insert the right side of the scanner to the edge of a table so the book is open to 90 degrees when the scanner instead of a moderate weight on the original (like a 1 "thick book) placed. If you press with your fingers, press the edges of the glass surface (or better yet, in the corners), not the middle. When you enter is not quite
