Great quality By Forgas Digital Photography My experience with this scanner didn't start out well, because I got a bad install disk which caused installation to fail. HP customer service was very helpful, though, and listed all my options...they don't have the download available online yet, so I would either have to wait for them to ship me one, or return the scanner...I chose the latter. My next scanner was easy to set up, and I was scanning within minutes. The quality is great, and I love scanning negatives, but I have encountered a few issues. The first is that if I press the "scan negatives/slides" button on the outside of the scanner instead of using the software to initiate, the software assumes it's a slide instead of a negative. There may be a option or preference to change that, but I haven't found it. Also, if I try to scan more than one negative or picture at a time, the scanning software crashes and closes. It's very frustrating, because then I have to reset all my settings. I've started to just scan one at a time, but I'd prefer to be able to do more than one at a time to save time. Frustrations aside, I really do like this scanner. It's pretty quick (compared to some of the old school scanners I've had), and it's quiet, and easy to select the picture dimensions from the preview screen using click and drag. The negative holder is good quality, and the lid lifts up for oversized items. I'd recommend it. 24 of 27 people found the following review helpful. Good Quality, Good Value By Nomad I have been very statisfied with this scanner. It produces good quality scans and is easy to use under Mac OS X. After installing the included software and connecting to the USB 2 port it worked with no further effort. The case and lid are durable and fit well. The lid can be removed to scan the side of large objects. HP did a good job with this. I recommend it highly. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Worse HP Product I've come across By KatieeB Ihave always relied on Hewlett Packard to give me decent products so when I needed a new scanner, I went for this model, based on reports listed under CircuitCity. Purchased this model at an Office Supply & it will be getting free trip back tomorrow for refund. The software gives you NO options, starts loading up everything & anything on your pc while you sit & wait & wait. Once loaded, I had programs that would not work properly plus it was very noisy when scanning a paper. I uninstalled it & my programs are functioning perfectly once more. HP, listen up, something is wrong with this model. Give your customers better service, more options when loading software & only give us what we want....I want a basic, lost cost scanner to use about once a week, with no attached files. Stay away from this model unless you want your pc loaded with junk they feel you need. See all 24 customer reviews...
