Microtek ArtixScan 4000tf Scanner
With up to 4,000 dpi optical (8,000 interpolated) resolution, the ArtixScan 4000tf can enlarge 35mm scans to full A3 or tabloid-size scans with no degradation to output quality. Scans are fast and take under one minute. And with a 4.3 Maximum Optical Density plus Multiple Sampling, the ArtixScan 4000tf captures exceptional shadow and highlight detail. For increased productivity, two auto-advancing batch scanning cartridges are provided: a standard 6-frame 35mm filmstrip holder, and a 4-frame 35mm slide holder. An optional APS film roll cartridge allows automated batch scanning of up to 40 images per loading.
Brand: Microtek Model: 1108-03-170572 Platforms: Mac, Windows 2000, Windows Me Original language: English Dimensions: 7.94 pounds Professional grade single-pass slide and film scanning True 36-bit color, 4,000 dpi optical resolution, 3.4 Dmax 5,300-element tri-linear array CCD image sensor Batch holders for mounted slides and filmstrips USB and FireWire, PC and Mac compatible
For dedicated 35mm slide scanning, the Microtek ArtixScan 4000tf Scanner provides high dynamic range combined with fine software control to handle a wide range of originals, even with shadow detail. The ArtixScan 4000tf's patented design moves the film holder in a single pass, leaving the lens fixed. This system delivers high dynamic range and image quality. Working with an original scanned in 4,000 dpi optical resolution, you can create several levels of enlargement, which is particularly helpful when you need to crop your original. You can even enlarge a 35mm scan to a full A0 size with pre-press quality output. Scan both negatives and slides (positives) and auto-feed a strip of six frames or four mounted slides. With 16,000,000 dots measured per square inch, a dynamic range of 3.4, and a maximum density of 3.5D, the 4000tf handles transparent originals from 24 x 35mm, 35mm filmstrips, and APS film (with an optional cartridge). It can capture highlights and shadow detail with the color accuracy demanded by imaging professionals. The 4000tf comes with SilverFast Ai 5.x and NegaFix, for delivery of accurate negative scans in a simple, three-step process. The ScanWizard Pro includes a choice of 24-bit or 48-bit output, RGB or CMYK scanning, full 36-bit curve control, ColorSync support, and batch scanning. The unit can be daisy-chained with a Microtek flatbed SCSI scanner and is supported by a one-year warranty. With up to 4,000 dpi optical resolution, the ArtixScan 4000tf defines a new standard in transparency imaging quality. Capturing more than twice as many pixels as some competing models, the ArtixScan 4000tf allows users to enlarge a 35mm scan to a 30-by-40-inch picture with no degradation of output quality. At 3.4 Dmax (maximum density), the ArtixScan 4000tf captures the level of detail and sharpness required by imaging professionals. This SCSI-2 scanner is PC and Mac compatible, including Windows XP.

Wiles Received from UPS and had it set up less than 45 minute later.Hardware and software set up is flawless (Win XP + firewire + Photoshop 7.0).Calibration was a breeze.Film holder is a bit fiddly but very robust.Slide holder is robust and easy to use.Scanned a known dusty and scratched slide at 4000 dpi and Silverfast cleaned up all the defects easily. The scanned result was just incredible.Siverfast is a bit fiddly but no harder to use than most digital dark room software and is incredibly powerful. After years of gettting what I thought were good scans from my Microtek 35T Plus I am simply blown away by the quality and ease of use of the 4000Tf 14 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Is it a "T" or a "TF"? By Irvin Williams The product for sale here is listed as the new Microtek Artixscan 4000tf film scanner, but the Amazon.com product description and the technical data description of its features are both from the old model 4000t.The new 4000tf has a much wider dynamic range (4.2 instead of 3.4), and has Firewire and USB connections instead of SCSI. It also comes with the new Silverfast AI 6.0 instead of 5.x software. It is a much better scanner now. This is a good price for the new 4000tf, but way too high for the discontinued (but still available) 4000t.So which is for sale here, the new Artixscan 4000tf or the old model 4000t? 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Calibration Software Wonderful By Charles Mendez I was looking for a dedicated slide scanner to replace a mid range model scanner that I was using before and was glad to find this one affordably priced. It has calibration software that lets me calibrate my monitor, scanner and printer using the same color scheme which is very helpful when you need the color to be as close to perfect as possible. Some of my clients are very picky and since I have started using the 4000tf I have not had any complaints with regards to the work. I would highly recommend this scanner to anyone out there looking for dedicated slide use. See all 6 customer reviews...
